Foodievents: Sly Fox Goat Races; Fishtown Restaurant Week

• Today marks the start of Riverward Restaurant Week, which is not only an awesome way to support restaurants in Fishtown, Kensington, and Port Richmond, but also a chance to eat shad at Johnny Brenda’s, especially if you missed Fishtown Shad Fest last week.

• On Sunday, Sly Fox is holding their annual Bock Fest & Goat Race in Phoenixville. The four reasons you should go: German-style beer, Bavarian pretzels, bratwursts, and galloping goats.

Headhouse Square Farmers’ Market starts the season on Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can look forward to handmade salamis from Talula’s Table, in-season asparagus, and book signings from local cookbook authors, like Tara Mataraza Desmond, co-writer of Almost Meatless: Recipes That Are Better for Your Health and the Planet .
