On Monday, we picked up on a rumor of the possibility of a Philly bar from the people behind NYC’s Death & Co. specialty cocktail spot. Grub Street has confirmation that this will be happening, straight from the mouth of co-founder and owner David Kaplan: “Proprietors LLC, a design and consulting company started by Death & Co Founder and Co-Owner David Kaplan, has been working on a project in Philadelphia in the Rittenhouse Square area. David, along with designer Jack Dakin (most recently of Rockwell Group) and Alex Day (Death & Co bartender and cocktail consultant), has been working on the design and bar program for the upcoming spot to be named The Franklin Mortgage and Investment Co.” Though initial gossip had Franklin Mortgage and Investment Co. going into Bar Noir, Kaplan is holding off on giving a location. For an idea of what to expect on the drinks menu, know that bartender Alex Day likes brown liquors; less so dirty martinis.
