In today’s Inquirer, Peter Mucha tries to fan the flames of a cheesesteak versus roast pork debate. A recent WaPo article, in which writer Tim Warren crowned the roast pork his favorite (after years of driving 100 miles for a cheesesteak from Pat’s), is all it takes to spark the question. Mucha comes down on the side of… neither sandwich, because of faulty methodology: a cheesesteak from Pat’s or Geno’s is not a worthy opponent against the roast pork from DiNic’s, John’s Roast Pork, or Tony Luke’s, and Warren didn’t know better than to order provolone. Take note, sandwich judges! Next time you go around declaring one class of sandwich better than another, conduct your experiment with the utmost rigor.
