101 Corridor Loses Late Night Diner

That diner on the corner of 19th Avenue and Taraval Street is one of the ways a lot of Bay Area folk mark the passage of time. You never really notice it, and probably don’t go in a lot, but when it changes ownership you know, because it’s one of the most high-profile spots on the 101 corridor, and it’s always a 24-hour place. When we started driving past it as a kid, it was Zim’s. By the time we regularly dined there at 2 a.m. before stumbling back to SF State, it was JT’s. Most recently, it’s been the Island Cafe, but according to Eater, they just shuttered. No word of a new tenant, but a 24-hour diner is a hell of a thing to lose, especially on many people’s route home from the airport. [Via Eater]
