Ruin All Dinner Parties Forever: Have Yours at Alinea

Imagine this kitchen filled with … you.

The lots on deck for this year’s Writers’ Theater fundraising auction run the standard dazzling gamut of society fundraising: tickets to the Grammy awards, a week in a villa in Los Cabos, some facetime with Oprah, blah blah blah. But the Writers’ Theater has something going for it that no other organization does: one of their board members is the wife of Alinea managing partner Nick Kokonas, and as a result of that there’s the lot entitled “Master Chef”.

Dinner for two at Alinea with wine pairings? Check. A signed copy of the Alinea book? Check. But then, holy effing shit, people. “A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cook and host your own dinner party for six in the world-class, state-of-the-art kitchen at Alinea.”

As Nick expanded to us, the package gives the winner “the opportunity to use the Alinea kitchen on a Monday or a Tuesday when we are closed to host your own dinner party. You bring the food and up to 6 guests, and we will set up tables in the kitchen for you to host. You get the use of the facilities all day to prep… and in the evening myself and one of our chefs will help you out in cooking and service. Make no mistake — you have to cook. We will also open up the Alinea wine cellar for you to purchase wine at a discount. In short, Alinea is your home kitchen for one night only.”

Did we say “holy effing shit” yet? This will without a doubt be an item of interest to people far beyond those looking to support the (no doubt brilliant, visionary, and artistically valuable) works of the Writers’ Theater. And Nick assures us that the Alinea team is not in the habit of donating kitchen access willy-nilly, so this is basically a once in a lifetime chance. Holy. Effing. Shit.

If you think you’ve got the kitchen chops (and the disposable income) to pull this baby off, you can arrange for a proxy bidder by contacting Sarah Ostman of the Writers’ Theater at 847-242-6012.
