The MenuPages Guide To The Boston Marathon

The 2009 Boston Marathon is on Monday and, along with a metric ton of tourists, it brings with it some excellent opportunities for eating. Whether you’re a runner looking for a place to carbo-load the night before or an observer in search of somewhere you can eat while watching the race, we’ve got you covered. Your guide is after the jump.

Sunday

• $20 gets you an all-you-can-eat pasta buffet at Bambara featuring three kinds of pasta and three kinds of sauce. For $5 more, you can add proteins like chicken, rock shrimp, or grilled vegetables.

Clink will be offering special carb-heavy dishes by Joseph Margate all weekend long.

• At The Ivy, bottomless bowls of spaghetti and meatballs will run you a mere $16 on Sunday night.

• For sheer volume of carbs, it’s hard to beat Maggiano’s. How often do you get to claim a serving meant for a whole family for yourself alone?

• For those who prefer their loading to be done with slightly more elegant carbs, there’s always the truly excellent pastas at Prezza.

Monday

• A huge advantage of spending Marathon Monday at Doyle’s is being able to steer well-clear of downtown craziness. Bonus: it’s the quintessential Boston bar and they have a ton of beers on tap.

• If you do want to get into the thick of it, head down to Durgin Park, where the Marathon will be showing in the tavern.

• Are you like an athlete whose endurance sport is drinking? If so, don’t miss Vox Populi’s party, where the drinks start flowing at 9am and don’t stop until closing. $40 gets you a full day and then some of drinking, plus complimentary hors d’oeuvres.
