Jamie Lauren’s High-End Hot Dogs

Hot dogs are certainly hot this year, from new, cult-favorite stands like Da Beef to the haute cuisine versions being developed at Lockwood with a little help from MenuPages Chicago. Now a local culinary star has gotten into the act.

According to San Francisco, Jamie Lauren makes her sausages with Kobe beef, pork shoulder, and house-cured bacon, and are served on house-made bread buns with her own sauerkraut, and ketchup and mustard that she blends herself. The high-end lowbrow snacks are part of Absinthe’s bar menu, served weekday evenings and weekend afternoons.

And just for the record, despite Lockwood chef Phillip Foss’s inclusion of scallops in his own haute dog recipe, not a trace of the shellfish can be found near Lauren’s. [Via San Francisco]
