Honest Tom’s: Tacos And Coffee

A new taco truck has been roving through town since April 1, parking at Drexel during the week and stationing itself at Clark Park on Saturdays. The truck (full name: Honest Tom’s Taco Shop) makes breakfast and lunch tacos until supplies run out, which seems to be pretty fast. Comments on Meal Ticket include such praise as “these are honest to God some of the best tacos I have ever had” and “I’m a huge fan of the breakfast tacos here, taste fresh and flavorful.”

So, the tacos are great and sell like hot cakes, but it’s possible that the coffee at Honest Tom’s is even more of a commodity. It’s not just any coffee, it’s Stumptown Coffee, which founder Duane Sorenson guards pretty jealously. Sibling blog Grub Street reveals just how protective: “I don’t want to sell my coffee to everyone,” Sorenson says. “It’s not for everyone. I don’t have the fucking time for it, man.” Sweet! Tom’s is not just a purveyor of hard-to-come-by tacos, but also coffee.
