Da Vinci has done away with its a la carte menu on weekdays in favor of a customizable three-course $35 prix fixe. The menu features a choice of seven antipasti, twelve pastas and entrees, and four desserts. Most of the favorites, like the poached calamari salad and the excellent pappardelle boscaciola, are present and accounted for. Da Vinci’s a la carte menu continues to be available on Friday and Saturday nights.
Is the prix fixe a good deal? It depends on whether or not you’d ordinarily order more than an entree. If so, you’re paying at least ten bucks (and likely closer to twenty) less than you would on an a la carte three-course meal at the restaurant. If you’d generally just pop in for a plate of gnocchi, however, it’s not so great. Caveat emptor.
