The Other Critics: Vintage, Amici, Franklin Southie & More!

• Devra First gives Vintage one and a half stars. Quantity trumps quality at this throwback where comfort food seems frozen in time. An antipasti platter comes piled high with sliced lunch meats. For Pete’s sake, they’re using pre-grated cheese! [Globe]

• Cheap Eats stops by Chelsea’s Restaurante Sabor Especial and finds better-than-average Salvadoran fare in a tiny space. [Globe]

• Robert Nadeau has two stars for Amici. This is nostalgia done right! Awesome eggplant rollatini and spaghetti alle vongole, along with great service, make for a fine dinner. We wonder how he’d feel about Vintage. [Phoenix]

• MC Slim JB drops by Alex’s Chimis for On The Cheap. Now that Miami Cafe is closed, it’s the best Dominican food in town, with especially good combo plates. [Phoenix]

• Shaffer gives Franklin Southie a B. Though many Franklin classics are inexplicably missing from the menu and it’s too loud, the food is still cheap and the vibe fun. [Herald]
