Temporary Closings

Nino’s and Caffe Roma Shuttered by DOH

The naked Santa is still on the window at Nino’s Pizzeria (turns out he was painted by Nicolina, who also decorates windows for Two Boots and Totonno’s), and now there’s a Department of Health sticker on there too. Workers were cleaning the joint yesterday. Meanwhile, Caffe Roma, the Little Italy pastry shop open since 1891, got the yellow sticker last Thursday. Last month an inspector cited the bakery for improper use of pesticides, evidence of flies and mice, and improper utensil usage. The following sign on the window assures it’s all due to “minor mechanical problems.”

DEAR VALUED CUSTOMERS,
PLEASE PARDON THE INCONVENIENCE OF OUR CLOSING DUE TO A FEW MINOR MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. WE TAKE THESE ISSUES SERIOUSLY AND LOOK FORWARD TO CORRECT THESE ISSUES EXPEDIENTLY. LOOK FOR OUR REOPENING EARLY NEXT WEEK. WE APPRECIATE YOUR PATRONAGE AND SUPPORT.
THANK YOU.
