Bed-Stuy and Flatiron Get Speakcheesies

A speakeasy-themed spot named SarahJames is coming to 305 Throop Avenue in Bed-Stuy, Eater reports: “Owner James Palminteri, a 24-year vet of the industry, most recently stationed at the Todd English empire, tells us he’s building a bar, kitchen, and dining room in the former ground floor two bedroom apartment. They’ll serve a classic American menu with daily specials, and are decking the entire place out in antiques, chandeliers, and the like.” Palminteri hopes to open by April. In the meantime, we have the Raines Law Room, just opened by a Milk & Honey vet.

Over to Thrillist:

Raines is a sultrily lit, tin-ceiling subterranean sleeve marked only by a small plaque and doorbell… Once inside, you’re met with an anteroom flush with velvet armchairs, followed by a procession of gauzily curtained booths fit for booze-sucking vampires; each booth’s equipped with a chain buzzer, so the waitress only pops in when you need another drink, or need to tell someone how awesome the buzzers are.

It’s located at 48 West 17th, between Fifth and Sixth, which as far as we know makes it the first Milk & Honey spinoff to venture above 14th Street.
