Welcome To The Year Of The Ox!

Happy Chinese New Year to all! Apparently, it’s the Year of the Ox, and while we’re not sure what that means astrologically-speaking, we know that it means we’re looking forward to dinner tonight. See, we’re are big fans of this sort of holiday, because it is a great excuse to eat good food.

Bryn Mawr’s Yangming was written up in USA Today in a feature on great places to ring in the New Year. This practically guarantees that it’s going to be packed to the gills, but you can try to make a reservation (and especially brave souls can venture out there and see what happens). They’re also having a big party tomorrow night.

If you feel like going fancy, check out Susanna Foo, which has a $39 three-course prix fixe from tonight through March 1. Joe’s Peking Duck Original 1984 also has a $30+ Chinese New Year’s banquet, but this one is ten courses and runs until March 31.

If this is all a little rich for your blood, wandering around Chinatown and soaking it in is the cheapest option. If you get cold or hungry while there, Imperial Inn for dim sum, Ong’s for noodles, or faithful vegetarian stand-by Kingdom of Vegetarians are all solid lower-ticket options.
