New Brunch Deal At Cuba Libre

Old City’s Cuba Libre is hardly a beacon of authenticity — whenever we see it, it makes us think of the Epcot Center. That said, if let yourself embrace being in a Disneyfied restaurant, they are launching a tempting brunch deal.

For $14.95, you can get a three-course brunch. Of course, a similar prix fixe brunch in another state would probably come with cocktails, but alas, not in here Philly. However, we tend to think of a starter of churros as a reasonable consolation prize. Entrees include “Huevos en Cazuela” (a casserole with potatoes; chorizo; lots of olive oil), chocolate waffles, and torrejas (awesome, awesome Cuban-style french toast), and brunch also comes with a side like maduros.

So, $14.95 is not the most economical brunch ever invented, but it’s not bad for three courses. And while it’s so cold and harsh out, a small (okay, huge) part of us would love to sit inside a “Cuban” hacienda and pretend that we are in a warmer part of the world.
