Sometimes you reach in the back of your closet and discover the perfect dress you forgot you even had. You slip it on, and wonder, “How did I forget I even owned this?” Well, we think certain restaurants are the same type of “dress,” because they often get thrown by the wayside for glitzier restaurants with big name chefs and a crowd of glitterati. But sometimes, these are the most delicious restaurants of all. Of course, we’re speaking about Boston chain Legal Sea Foods, home to some of the best meals that came out of water since that giant whale swallowed Pinocchio. (Sure he technically escaped before being eaten, but that’s a minor technicality).
When it comes to just plain fish, Legal offers one of the most diverse menus in town. Along with two sides of your choice (we recommend the mashes potatoes!) options range from bluefish and wild salmon to haddock and rainbow trout, each prepared however you like. We may have a major fear of shellfish, but for those who love it will be thrilled with Legal’s raw bar, which prepares oysters in a handful of ways. Also available are lobsters of varying sizes depending on how much you think you can put away. And if you happen to have any room left, their little chocolate bonbons are the perfect cap to a delectable meal. So like that dress you found tucked away in your closet, Legal may not be the glitziest place you’ve ever been, but it probably is one that makes you feel comfortable.
