A higher-up involved with Noah Tepperberg’s new project in the Earth space tells us that in a second meeting of Community Board 4’s licensing committee last night, booze was blessed (in a 8–5 vote) provided Tepperberg installs proper soundproofing and security, regularly attends CB meetings, and doesn’t seek a cabaret license. With this decision in hand (as well as a petition he’s circulating among neighbors), Tepperberg will likely get a more sympathetic response from the full board when it meets on Monday (it previously voted him down). Word is, Tepperberg is aiming for “cuisine with a scene” and hopes the venue will be a cross between the Spotted Pig and Rose Bar (no one ever said the guy wasn’t ambitious). Expect Earth to close for a cosmetic renovation in January, and the new place, which is still without a name, to reopen about three months later. And now, a look at the planned food menu.
