Morton’s Special Birthday Menu

Even though it’s now got nearly 80 locations worldwide, Morton’s The Steakhouse is a quintessentially Chicago institution. Those tourist-held stereotypes of Gordon Gekko-esque cigar-chomping, gruff-voiced businessmen tucking in to a bloody steak as they decide the fate of the CME? That happens in the hyper-masculine, 80s-influenced maroon-and-cognac-brown dining room of Morton’s, where the meat gets rolled around on carts and ordering pasta is seen as a sign of personal weakness.

As it happens, the very first Morton’s opened up 30 years ago this Sunday, on a stretch of the Gold Coast that we can only imagine was in desperate need of more steak. In honor of their birthday, the Morton’s folks are celebrating the way restaurants celebrate, which is to say they’ve put together a special menu that they would like you to pay for.

From now until December 31, for just under $50 per person, you get:

Choice of Salad:
Caesar Salad or Morton’s Salad

Single Cut Filet Mignon

Choice of Seafood:
Broiled Sea Scallops, Colossal Shrimp Alexander
or Jumbo Lump Crab Cake

Choice of One:
Signature Potato or Fresh Vegetable

Choice of One:
Morton’s Legendary Hot Chocolate Cake or Key Lime Pie

Oh, and also, there will be free mini-hamburgers at the bar this Sunday the 21st, from 5pm to 6pm. Precisely one hour of free burgers. Partaaaaaay!
