Holiday Heartburn: Give Something Back And Take Something Off (Your Gut)

We’re in that time of year where you do a lot of eating and a lot of family/community stuff, and not that much exercise. So it seems like a good idea to promote an event that covers all bases: workout, charity, and fun stuff.

This Saturday marks the third annual Supermarket Street Sweep, a pickup bike race to support the San Francisco Food Bank. It’s basically an open-course scramble around town, in which participants try to pick up as much food as fast as possible from five grocery stores.

Riders can win in the points category — whoever brings back the most food — or the speed category — for completing the checkpoints fastest. You can see photos of last year’s race here. Doesn’t that look like fun?
