Holiday Heartburn: Feed The Hungry And Yourself

Don’t know why we didn’t notice this before — probably because we’re heartless jerks — but the San Francisco Food Bank just has the awesomest fundraisers, don’t you think?

A few weeks ago, we reported on the Supermarket Street Sweep, and we just got word of another feel-good but also really fun event, Dine Out Against Hunger. In this one, a few of the city’s best restaurants are donating a portion of their sales on Thursday to the food bank. Participants include:

Maverick (where they’ll also give you a 10 percent discount if you make a separate donation to the food bank)
A16
Americano Restaurant and Bar
Andalu
Sociale
Delfina
Destino
Incanto
Kuleto’s
Magnolia
Range
Serpentine
Slow Club
SPQR

This seems like a really good excuse to get a night out, especially if the parents are in town for the holidays and footing the bill. But it’s nice how there’s a range of income brackets represented in the list. Even if you’re a young upstart and the parents aren’t paying, you can surely grab a burger and a pint at Magnolia. If not for you, then for the food bank.
