In its new issue, Bon Appétit gives Marlow & Sons a nod as one of the country’s best new American taverns and goes on to predict the trends of 2009. Dessert trend: peanut butter! (Actually, Time Out just singled out Cake Shop’s peanut-butter bomb as well as the Redhead’s bacon peanut brittle.) Trendy ingredient: fresh ricotta. Restaurant trend: breakfast (true, we’ve been seeing more of that). Trendy dish: anything with egg on it.

Meanwhile, Eat Me Daily looks back at Epicurious’s predictions for 2008 and finds that some were spot-on (niche dining, gastrobartenders, head-to-tail dining); others, not so much.

We have to disagree with the site when it says “dessert restaurants” didn’t take off — look at Momofuku Bakery & Milk Bar, Village Tart, Sweetiepie, Luxee, East Village Pie Lounge, and so on (using a loose definition of “dessert restaurant”).
