The Radiance of Radius

When we got an invite to the tenth anniversary party for Radius, we almost went through the ceiling with excitement. We’ve long been fascinated by Christopher Myers, the co-owner of Radius and Myers + Chang who makes being a restaurateur llook as badass as throwing a television out of a hotel window. We were determined to get as close as possible to Myers and the rest of the Radius team at the party.

Upon entrance, a packed house of extremely well-dressed partygoers swung around with champagne glasses in hand to a DJ who blended jazz, hip hop, and dance music in an amazing way. A bar of beer, wine and champagne bottles piled higher than the moon set the tone. Everyone from Radius servers to 80 year old patrons were dancing their pants off like it was nobody’s business. But amidst this party of delicious excess, we were kind of wondering where the food was. Once in awhile a server would exit the kitchen carrying a tray of tuna tartare or pork, but it disappeared by the time the door had shut. So being our oh so sneaky selves, we noticed a certain group of heavy hitters hanging out in the kitchen, eating rich mushroom and melted cheese sandwiches and other goodies. Naturally, we had to sneak in and pretend we were important. And boy, are we glad we did so, because those grilled cheese and mushroom finger sandwiches were as indulgent as possible. Best part of the evening? Running into the dazzling two ladies above who commanded the dance floor and had a great sense of humor when it comes to fashion. Now that is truly radiant.
