Well, we thought we had gotten away free and clean. Perhaps that insidious Google ads program that stapled big old “Yes On Prop 8” banners on every other site had missed ours. We hadn’t seen any such ads, and we certainly don’t support what they stand for.
Unfortunately, however, it appears they have made it here, too, according to a message we just received from a reader. So we just wanted to let you know that, as an editorial stance, MenuPages does not support California Proposition 8, which would ban gay marriage in the state. We didn’t realize the ads were running on our site, since we hadn’t yet seen one, but the reader forwarded a screenshot that shows our site with the ad, so we don’t deny that it happened.
We just want to make this explicitly clear: The editorial department of MenuPages, which is responsible for creating and editing listings, and writing and editing the blog, is completely separate from our sponsors and our advertising sales department. We don’t support Proposition 8, and we urge you to vote against it.
