Birthday Drinks Around Town

Let’s talk booze and birthdays.

As you know, the Buena Vista Cafe celebrated the 56th anniversary of its original cocktail, the Irish Coffee, by making a Paul Bunyan-sized one yesterday. MPSF writer Alexis Wright headed on over at 1 p.m., but the festivities were a bit late in getting started, so she had to go back to work before the filled this glass with booze and coffee:

Other people with more time on their hands, including Eater SF, and Berderp, have a lot more photos.

If you missed that party, or just couldn’t make it because who drinks that much coffee at lunch, there’s another chance to get your liquid lunch when John’s Grill offers $.08 afternoon cocktails for its 100th anniversary this Friday. Did you hear that? that’s eight cents! For a martini! Why doesn’t every restaurant turn 100 all the time?
