The South End…full of cafes, skinny men walking dogs, boutique stores and groceries…and more cafes. But the best of them never seem to stop impressing us. Maybe we love sandwich lunches. Maybe we have an afternoon cookie addiction. Maybe we just love homemade daily soup specials that confuse the moms with strollers. Besides, doesn’t flour need some new competition in the ‘hood? You can’t have too many chocolate chip cookies in one borough.
So enter Blunch, which is way more fun to say than “brunch.” Oversize sandwiches with simple names each have a unique flare, tiny quiches are great on the go, and the chef’s “whim” special is always a pleasant surprise. We love fair trade coffee, and they stock it deep. A $2 bagel is nothing to sneeze at in a town full of overpriced chains, and $1 muffins are good for sucking up to your boss - believe us, he’ll think you paid $5 for it. Everything is fresh daily and ridiculously cheap considering the portion and obvious thought put into the food. The staff is young and perky, and somehow, they always package up our goodies to go with total care. No matter how bumpy the bus ride is, our soup never spills and our cookies never get crushed.
Stop in if you’re one of those skinny guys walking your dog. They’re pet friendly in addition to loving their customers.
