BREAKING: Farmerie 58 Exec Chef Out The Door

The last line of Heather Shouse’s review of Farmerie 58, which we were just this second typing up our recap of (stay tuned!), is this:

What [owner Sandy] Yu should really be worried about holding on to is her chef.

And then HOLY CRAP, Billy Alexander, the chef in question is leaving! 312DD broke the story like four seconds ago, and we confirmed it with Farmerie management. Billy’s on to pursue his own things.

Shouse’s review is overwhelmingly positive toward Alexander’s work in the kitchen, with most of the article’s swipes and jabs directed at Yu. That kind of disconnect can’t have made for a harmonious working environment, so it looks like Alexander’s decided to take his knives elsewhere.

There are no plans to change the menu for the time being, , and they’ve pulled up sous chef Nathan Kosakowski to take on the executive mantle. We’ll be eagerly awaiting reviews on the restaurant from the other big names — it’ll really be Kosakowski’s chance to make a name for himself.

Exec chef abandons brand-new Farmerie 58; was it the review or something else?! [312DD]
