Like EV Grieve, we’re torn about the closing of Hop Devil Grill in the East Village. On the one hand, the beer bar had all of the soul of a T.G.I. Friday’s, which really rankled those who loved Stingy Lulu’s before it. But if you were able to get past the fratmosphere, it did have a killer beer selection including cask ales (a rarity) as well as interesting tastings. And the bartenders were always nice about letting you try stuff. A sign promises the restaurant will open with a new concept and management. Let’s hope that the draught lines stay and the cheesy beer signs go.
