‘Anti-Nightlife’ Candidate Daniel Squadron Is Elected to Senate

A couple days ago we received a note, which circulated around the industry, imploring us not to vote for Daniel Squadron since the Senate candidate was “anti-nightlife.” Squadron used to own What Bar on the Upper West Side, but his platform calls for increased policing of high-density areas in his Lower Manhattan district, and would strengthen the community board’s power to enforce the law preventing bars from operating within 500 feet of a school or church. It seems voters didn’t agree with Steve Lewis, who went so far as to call the Democrat “an extremely anti-club, anti-licensing, bad, bad man.” Last night, he was elected with a resounding 86.4 percent of the vote.

Full election monty! McMahon, Squadron, and, oh, Obama win big! [Brooklyn Paper]
