A round of applause (if they can hear it over all the roar of all the other accolades) to Alinea, Charlie Trotter’s, and Everest, the Chicago representatives to Gayot’s list of the top 40 restaurants in the United States.
The complete roundup, which weighs heavily in favor of cuisine and contains few to no surprises, can be found here. And now that this is the second best of 2008 roundup we’ve seen, we think we can safely declare this year completely over, and call the remaining week of October and entirety of November and December a wash.
