Jack And Jill Went Down To The Hill To Fetch A Pitcher Of Lager

While the nursery rhyme may say that Jack and Jill were only fetching water for their pail, we think in the adult version of the poem, they would probably be searching for something a little stronger. And due to the fact that we live on Beacon Hill, we frequently tumble down to The Hill Tavern to fill our pails. Around the neighborhood, the Hill is known as that comfortable place where people in stilettos mix with people in sweatpants, while everyone from yuppies to college students eat and drink while watching baseball or chatting with friends. The beers on tap revolve frequently, providing everyone from the beer snob to the sloppy college kid something to sip on. A patio area thrives in the summertime, and families are always welcome. You’ll even spot the occasional dog. But everyone knows that where there’s lots of booze, there should be good food as well. This is an area where Hill Tavern definitely doesn’t disappoint.

While we stick to the Hill’s vegetarian offerings, it’s a known fact that meat-eaters from Beacon Hill and beyond are obsessed with the house burger. While it may not be our dish, we know it comes from gourmet grocery and butcher shop Savenor’s right around the corner. But vegetarians aren’t left out in the cold in this case. The quesadillas are killer, and the personal pizzas are ideal for the hungry and somewhat tipsy customer. So whether you’re a Jack or a Jill, grab your pails and head up to the Hill. If you’re lucky, maybe Jill will tumble home after you.
