Rick Nichols visits “tiny, earnest newcomer” to Chinatown, Zhi-Wei-Guan. It’s less a review, and more a glance at a small start, which could either go big or go home.

• In disappointing news, the purported “free beer for life” thing that was supposed to happen at Chickie’s & Pete’s has been endangered by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. So, Bud Light will be offered, but no free Budweiser for life?

Table 31 at the Comcast Center gets its LaBan review. Though expensive, the steaks are good and “there are satisfying flavors beyond the steaks” (always a nice touch, since it’s not as though steakhouses have to serve anything else, much less do it well). He alludes to chophouse redux, and Table 31 comes away filling that category pretty well.
