The Inn Crowd

Yesterday Gawker ribbed Graydon Carter for hooking his buddies up with gigs at Vanity Fair (restaurateur Brian McNally is now the mag’s “Man in Saigon”), and today “Page Six” is amused that Carter’s intro to The Mural at the Waverly Inn portrays the restaurant as an amalgam of others: “I drew up a manifesto that called for red banquettes, working fireplaces, a killer martini, and lush, warm lighting, borrowed shamelessly from Elaine Kaufman’s venerable establishment. We borrowed ruthlessly from others: roast chicken the way they do it at L’Ami Louis, the chili they used to serve at Chasen’s, and so forth.” [Page Six]
