The Triumph of the South End

A few things we live for: pupusas and burritos. How could one place make two of our favorite things so consistently good? It helps when you have low overhead - literally. This tiny hole-in-the-wall may have short ceilings and a no frills atmosphere, but their clean kitchen, friendly service, and delectable eats are some of the best Mexican offerings south of Tremont Street.

El Triunfo - the triumph in Spanish - is truly just that. Burritos are not the size of your head. Why would they need to be? Serving us portions we can actually finish makes us waste not and want for future visits. Grilled veggies and steak are usually made to order, though lunchtime gets hairy and you may get something 10 minutes off the grill. But compared to what you’re getting elsewhere, we still consider this fresh. And don’t forget the hot sauce. Theirs is divinely spicy without knocking you down.

Open every day of the week until the lovely late night hours of 11pm, it’s a solid bet if you live in the area or find yourself heading through these parts on the way home.
