SF Cafe Employee Killed While Working

Oh, this is really sad. Turns out that Jaguar that crashed in the Mission District yesterday killed a restaurant employee who was on an errand to pick up supplies for work. From the San Francisco Chronicle:

[Victim Gaspar] Caballero had worked at Cafe La Taza, a block north of the crash scene, for just a few weeks, owner Noel Martinez said. He said Caballero made sandwiches at the cafe and had been on his way to buy ingredients at the nearby Evergreen Market when he was struck.

Police arrested 36-year-old driver Jason Yantas, who they say may have fallen asleep or passed out while speeding north on Mission Street at about 8:10 a.m. His car left the road, knocked down four parking meters, then hit and killed Caballero. Yantas is charged with felony manslaughter.
