It’s Greek To Me

Unlike Thai, Chinese, or Italian food, Greek dining isn’t something you find on every street corner in Boston. In fact, the pickings are pretty slim when it comes to finding a Greek restaurant. But one of Boston’s most bustling boulevards is actually home to a delicious Greek restaurant that offers everything from spanikopita to and shish kebabs. Steve’s Greek Cuisine, located on Newbury Street, is a great family-run business that’s a casual stop perfect for lunch during a day of shopping on Newbury. Located in a beautiful brownstone, it offers a small dining area with a great opportunity for people watching. There’s also a second location in Faneuil Hall, but it’s strictly take out. Whichever location you choose, prepare for a dream filled with feta and olives.

While we personally favor Steve’s traditional Greek salad, our non-vegetarian sources claim the gyros are delicious. Another highlight is Steve’s new Sunday brunch, featuring sizzling omelettes and boatloads of fresh fruit. For the insider opinion on Boston’s Greek cuisine offerings, we turned to our fully Greek friend who’s been to every restaurant that claims to have some sort of Greek affiliation in the greater Boston area. She claims that while Steve’s is a somewhat commercialized version of Greek cuisine, it still succeeds in offering diverse options for all parties. So whether you’re of 100 percent Grecian descent, or just enjoy a good chunk of feta once in awhile, stop by Steve’s Greek Cuisine for a satisfying meal that will have you yelling Opa!
