The song may be about dreaming of Mexican vacations drenched in tequila, but if your frequent flyer miles won’t take you farther than the closest T stop then we highly suggest heading to Allston to quench your Mexicali Blues. Sunset Grill & Tap is a Boston legend, due to the 112 beers available on tap, making their drink list thicker than a user manual. The margaritas are nothing to walk by, due to the lengthy selection of tequila. But even if you don’t know your Jose Cuervo from Patron, we guarantee a typical margarita on the rocks with a salted rim is heavenly.
Sunset Grille and Tap may be notorious for its liquid selections, but the food list is equally as lengthy and delicious. “Appeteasers” make a great quick bite, especially if you’re visiting with a large party (which is our favorite way to visit Sunset). Everything from wings to poppers to potato skins appear on the menu, but we’re dead set on naming the nachos as one of the best items on the menu. Also available are mile high burgers and most other forms of Mexican food everyone craves once in awhile. If you still have room after the tidal wave of beer, margaritas, and Mexican food, dare to tap the dessert menu. The Meltdown Mudslide Pie resembles a chocolate brick more than anything, but for 5 different spoons jabbing at it’s Oreo crust with heath bar and Reese’s pieces protecting an inner area of vanilla ice cream, it’s the perfect cap to a decadent meal. The drink may be called a Tequila Sunrise, but after visiting the bar at Sunset Grill and Tap, we bet you won’t be awake early enough to catch tomorrow’s sun rising.
