It never goes well when we try to be snarky. We either end up getting way too unintentionally mean, or the joke falls flat, or whatever we thought it was appropriate to snark about turns out to be way too earnest and smart to fall victim to our rapier (read: butter-knife) wit.
Such is the case with newly opened Crown and Crumpet tea salon. Wanting so badly to post some sort of snickering, “Little Lord Fauntleroy” barb, we called to get the skinny on the opening — they started tea service over the weekend and will introduce a full breakfast and lunch next week — and by the end of the conversation we were so charmed by co-owner Chris Dean’s politeness and easy conversation, and enticed by the sound of the pastries, sandwiches, and 32 varieties of tea, that now we’re thinking of excuses to take the afternoon off and get over there.
BUT, the Harry Flashman in us can’t let Chris and his wife/business partner Amy Dean off without at least a minor editorial flick behind the ear, so here, with affection, is a welcome-to-town music video for the fledgling business. Good luck, Deans!
