One of the best breakfast joints in Boston, The Paramount is notorious for its weekend lines of bodies wrapped out the restaurant’s front door and onto the sidewalk. And while it seems to look like a simple sea of Ray Ban Wayfarers and guys in khaki shorts with little whales on them, we think there’s another time of day to come by, and it doesn’t include waiting in a line longer than a novel.
Come dinner time at the Paramount, the lights are dimmed, candles are lit, and the wine bottles are uncorked. Perfect for a date that doesn’t equal blowing your whole checking account, the same casual tables and stools from breakfast serve as a comfortable place to eat and chat with friends in a completely un-pretentious environment.
Besides the faster-than-lightning service, the Paramount’s dinner menu is extremely diverse. Our personal favorite dish, ordered at least once a week, is the fish tacos, a do-it-yourself plate of crispy, breaded tilapia with avocado slices, black beans, salsa and rice. There are also a variety of sandwiches, pasta dishes, and burgers (of the beef, salmon, or bean persuasion) available. So stop by the Paramount for dinner, and give their afternoon menu a chance to shine. We can’t promise there won’t be guys in shorts with the little whales on them, but at least their sunglasses will be off.
