Maybe Forget About That Brooklyn Branch of Amy Ruth’s

This year’s list of unborn restaurants continues with the Brooklyn branch of Harlem’s Amy Ruth’s. The soul-food stalwart, home of some of the city’s greatest chicken and waffles, was supposed to open in the Fulton Mall, part of the always-promised but never-delivered renaissance of downtown Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Paper reports that seizure notices have gone up on the space, and the broker says he hasn’t heard anything from either the landlord or the restaurant’s owners, who have “all but fallen off the map.” Thank God for the hip-hop IHOP! It’ll be a sad day when Manhattan has a fleet of rival waffle trucks and Brooklyn none at all.
