Kurve, White Star Plan to Be Going Strong Tomorrow

Kurve.
Kurve.

After finally, finally, finally throwing open its doors, Kurve is mysteriously closed, according to Eater. A rep assures us that owner Andy Yang closed for a few days to re-staff, but that he’ll reopen tomorrow. When we spoke to designer Karim Rashid, he told us the restaurant wasn’t 100 percent there yet, so perhaps Yang is also installing a missing banquette. Meanwhile, Sasha Petraske (who did the drinks list for Kurve) tells us that his absinthe bar, White Star, should also be fully operational tomorrow. He’s adding stools to the marble bar, a small front counter that will offer a view of Essex Street to Pernod and Kubler sippers (don’t bother with Versinthe, our bartender advised; Lucid was nowhere to be found), and he’s also readying the next-door space, formerly a shoe store, for use.
