Ciprianis Can Keep Liquor License, Must Cough Up $500,000

Earlier today, Steve Cuozzo said that it would be a “calamity” if the Cipriani family was stripped of its liquor license after tax violations. Cuozzo can now raise his Bellini high, because the Observer is reporting that the State Liquor Authority has leveled a $500,000 fine against the catering giant, rather than stripping it of its license. SLA chairman Daniel Boyle, who had earlier said that the Ciprianis couldn’t buy their way through the system, called the authority’s decision “very unfortunate.” Dude’s probably just annoyed he couldn’t get into Cipriani Upstairs. Next time, bring some models!
