Details are emerging on the forthcoming Rouge Tomate, but there seems to be some misconceptions floating around, and restaurant reps are looking for justice on the matter of certain details! The Belgian eatery is not, as Zagat termed it, a “tomato-loving” venue — except, they say, in a vaguely Haute Barnyard–ish way. It was also reported that the joint would be decorated in bright red-and-white color schemes, but again reps would like to set the record straight: Décor will focus on “natural woods and materials like glass and bronze.” The last detail, though, we think, is a toss-up: Zagat stated that the place was a chain, and its reps disagree, saying that, while it has the same name and same owner, it’s only “inspired” by its Brussels counterpart, having as it does a totally different chef and menu. Tomato, tomahto on that one.
