We didn’t have to wait long to get our first case of tomato-related salmonella poisoning in New York: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced one yesterday, according to the Daily News. It’s worth remembering, though, that the tainted tomatoes are nationally distributed dreck such as you might find at big chain restaurants. You can still eat Dom DeMarco’s san marzano–driven masterpieces at Di Fara or the local tomatoes you’re likely to find at Gramercy Tavern or at the Greenmarket this weekend.
