Jason Perlow of Off the Broiler was able to move through the murderous heat this weekend and create his annual slideshow of the Big Apple BBQ Block Party. The tenor of the photos has changed, however, possibly as a result of Perlow’s weight-loss program (he was the star of a recent Times article on unhealthy bloggers). Last year he shot one obsessive, gorgeous close-up image after another of barbecued meats. This year’s version is heavier on musicians, visitors, little dogs, and other non-barbecue-related objects. Barbecue geeks and gluttons may be disappointed, but you do get a much better sense of the event.
