A CB1 agenda shows that Jamie Mulholland, owner of Cain and GoldBar, is applying for a liquor license at 408 Broadway, a five-story landmark loft building that recently sold for $29 million dollars.
Mulholland’s broker Steven Kamali confirms that a lease has been negotiated, and a rep for Cain would say only that, “This is another opportunity that’s being explored.” Another broker familiar with the high-ceilinged 6,000-square-foot basement-level space — which was apparently pursued by the Stereo team as well as Charles Ferri of Star Lounge — tells us rent is in the neighborhood of $250,000 per year and there’s a rear entry off Cortlandt Alley which might be used as a front entrance, lending it a Freemans-like cache. Will the place get drop-ins from its neighbor Jay-Z? You know it.
