It’s the holiday week and we’re busy readying a new crop of menus for 2008, but the Sun-Times, Tribune and New City decided to publish food sections this week anyway.
Highlights: Mike Nagrant visits Sepia for New City, but for the mixology, not the food. Peter Vestinos, winner of a local Iron Bar Chef competition, is fighting the good fight against martini-swilling no-nothings.
And the Sun-Times and Tribune both compile a top 10 list of recipes that have appeared in their pages in the past year. Baked pork chops with figs and walnuts caught our eye on the Tribune side, but we’re totally struck by the brilliance of the Sun-Times’ bacon-apple pie, destined to be an American classic. Also, the Tribune’s layout of this particular feature was really crappy - take a hint, Mr. Zell!
