Diner’s Agenda: Big Night

Diner’s Agenda would like to eat everything in sight, please.

Wednesday, November 14
•It’s your last chance in 2007 to catch Big Night at Grotto. The restaurant will be recreating all the foods from the film of the same name up to and including the whole roasted pig. Guests are encouraged to dress up in 50s-style clothes, so it promises to be a pretty awesome evening. The party starts at 7pm and tickets, which cost $75 with wine or $55 without, can be reserved by calling (617) 227-3434. [Grotto]
•We’ve never actually been inside the restaurant itself, but we’ve always found the visage of Saugus’s Kowloon to be delightfully tacky. The restaurant is throwing a big do tonight from 6pm-12am to celebrate its 57th anniversary. There will be a buffet, a raffle, and a silent auction, all to benefit the Massachusetts Restaurant Association’s Education Fund and The Joey Fund. Tickets cost $50 and may be purchased by calling (781) 233-0077. [Kowloon]
•The Park Square Legal Sea Foods is hosting a blind tasting wine dinner tonight at 6:30. Participants will not, in fact, be blindfolded, but the identities of the wines served shall remain a mystery. We do love a mystery! Dinner costs $95, which is either a steal or a shande depending on what the wine ends up being. Call (617) 530-9397 to reserve. [Legal Sea Foods]

Thursday, November 15
•Indulge in a three-course wine dinner at Roslindale’s coziest restaurant when Sophia’s Grotto hosts an evening showcasing fine Italian wines. The menu ranges from giant shrimp in phyllo dough to roasted rack of lamb, all for $44.95. Call (617) 323-4595 to save your seat. [Sophia’s Grotto]
