The Other Burlington

Our post yesterday on the joys of Burlington, Vermont got us thinking about a Burlington even closer to the Hub. We are speaking, of course, of Burlington, Massachusetts. Although Burlington is only thirteen miles away from Boston, we’re pretty sure we’ve only been there once, for a trip to the Burlington Mall. A few new restaurant openings, however, are making us seriously consider a culinary trip out to the suburb.

The Commonwealth Restaurant Group (proprietors of Mistral, Teatro, Sorellina, and Mooo….) are venturing northwest to open L’Andana Grill, a “new concept in Tuscan dining.” Mistral chef Jamie Mammano is in charge, but it seems that the chef de cuisine is David Blessing, who has cooked at Misral and Sorellina. It certainly sounds promising, especially for the area.

Perhaps even more exciting is Summer Winter, which is set to open very soon in the Burlington Marriott of all places. The restaurant will be helmed by Mark Gaier and Clark Fraiser, the duo behind the exceptionally popular Arrows in Ogunquit. As the name implies, the restaurant will focus on seasonal and local foods (apparently, they’ve planted a greenhouse for the restaurant’s produce). We’ve heard incredible things about Arrows and we certainly wouldn’t mind living near an outpost.
