•We find the Vineyard in the off season to be incredibly pleasant. Even more pleasant? Harvest festivals. Combine the two all weekend at the Martha’s Vineyard Annual Harvest Festival. Events cover everything from seminars to oyster boat rides and tickets, which range from free to $500, may be reserved online. [Martha’s Vineyard Annual Harvest Festival]

•The Somerville Arts Council earns our everlasting love this weekend by hosting Project Yum, a giant food festival in Union Square Plaza. There will be an Iron-Chef-style cookoff between the chefs for EVOO, Gargoyles, and The Independent! There will be food tastings! There will be “Kids’ activities like ‘guess the veggie!’ and ‘make your own instruments from beans and gourds!’” The party will be hopping from 3pm-6pm, so don’t miss it! [Somerville Arts Council]
•While you’re down the Cape for the festival on the Vineyard, you should also take in the Wellfleet OysterFest. All the traditional events will take place, including an oyster shucking contest. Most of the event will take place in the Town Hall parking lot and almost all of the events are free. [Wellfleet OysterFest]
