Cochon Opening

Today is opening day for the new Queens Village French resto Cochon; we’ll have the menu shortly, but Daily Candy has the scoop:

Just wait till you get a load of Cochon, Queen Village’s latest addition to its mini French Renaissance. Owners Gene and Amy Giuffi are opening the doors today, and with its lovingly restored, powder blue tin walls; fresh flowers; and mosaic floors, this rustic BYOB joint is destined to become a neighborhood favorite. Gene, formerly of La Boheme and Pasión, has crafted a beautifully balanced menu, showcasing his prowess with different cuts of pork. (Cochon means “pig” in French.) For a fabulous autumnal meal, start off with an order of chicken livers with balsamic vinegar, spiced walnuts, and raisins and follow it with the slow-roasted pork shoulder over lentils du Puy with Brussels sprouts and a poached egg.
