New Jersey Loves New Jersey Restaurants

The vote is in: New Jersey residents think that their restaurants are as good as Philadelphia’s. A Monmouth University/New Jersey Monthly poll determined 58% of New Jerseyans think the Garden State’s restaurants are equal in quality to those of Philadelphia and New York:

“No question about it, we like to eat out,” said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute. “While big cities like New York and Philadelphia are held out as dining meccas, New Jerseyans know there is no need to pay a bridge or tunnel toll to find a great restaurant.” Of respondents who earn more than $100,000 a year, 65 percent said they were likely to dine out weekly, compared with 38 percent of those earning $50,000 to $100,000 and 25 percent of those earning less than $50,000… Italian was, by far, the favorite among New Jersey diners, with 41 percent favoring that cuisine. American cuisine was preferred by 17 percent, followed by seafood at 9 percent; Chinese at 6 percent; steak at 5 percent; Japanese and Indian; both at 3 percent; and Mexican and French at 2 percent.”
